Fine Arts at St. Andrew's Regional High School
Culture is more than that stuff growing in the corner of your gym locker.
At St. Andrew’s High School, the sound of music, the thrill of leaping across the stage, the quiet scratching of charcoal on canvas helps bring our school to life.
What’s the point in learning about how the world works if you can’t express it?
Over the years we’ve come to understand that the only thing our students need to thrive in the arts is a blank canvas and a few sparks of confidence from our supportive teachers. Whether it’s painting, photography or one of the performing arts, we’ve learned to step back and admire the view as our students consistently raise the bar with jaw-dropping performances.
Fine Arts Programs
Visual art is a means by which ideas are given tangible form and used to communicate meaning. Through the disciplines of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics, you will develop the skills to make your vision a reality. You will investigate how artists throughout history have expressed their ideas. You will explore a wide variety of media in studio settings and visit art galleries to learn how to look at and talk about art with confidence.
St. Andrew’s drama students will discover the courage and honesty theatre demands. You will develop the practical skills, techniques and approaches which will ensure theatrical success. You will work in a supportive and challenging environment, exploring movement, speech, improvisation, acting, directing, technical theatre, design and theatre studies. It is our goal to develop your appreciation of drama and theatre as a process and as an art form.
Electronic media has redefined the way we communicate by entertaining, educating and informing our culture. The innovations brought by technology have blurred the lines between the traditional forms of media. These courses will prepare you for lifetime participation in a changing art medium. You will learn to think creatively and to explore this world of artistic expression.
Through the quality programming offered in St. Andrew’s music department, you will develop the skills necessary to use music as your own means of artistic expression. The large and small instrumental and vocal ensembles allow you to use your talents in collaboration with others to experience valuable performing opportunities in a variety of venues. The performance aspects of the music programs are numerous and varied.
